What We Do

Accountant vs Bookkeeper

Published on 21st Mar, 2021

Quite a few people have asked what we do, and how we differ from Accountants.

Bookkeepers do the day to day processing of paperwork, then carryout several reconciliations to the Banks, VAT, Payroll, Credit Cards, Cash.

We provide a variation of services, which is personal choice, Self Assessment, VAT, Payroll, and some specialise in an industry type. A huge amount of planning goes on behind the scenes to meet all deadlines, and lots of lists/calendar entries are made!

I do all of the above, but also off Software and Bookkeeping training and support, and can help you with budgeting, cashflow and credit control.  We see the client quite a lot - be it collecting work, meetings, and are always available if the client has questions.

At the moment (this might change) I am licenced for the production of Limited Company Accounts to Trial Balance. This means, whilst I do the bookkeeping, I also do the accruals, prepayments, depreciation, private use adjustments, pull off relevant reports and write up a set of notes to hand to the Accountant.

I have established good working relationships with my clients' Accountants and they are often very busy and are grateful for the completion of the groundwork.  I definitely support Collaboration and Teamwork over Competition.
